Fort Worth Second Chance Team wants this site to work for everyone who needs to find housing, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or captions.

## Standard we build to

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That target shapes the choices behind this site:

-   Semantic HTML with correct landmarks and a single H1 per page
-   A skip-to-content link as the first focusable element on every page
-   Visible focus indicators on every link, button, and form field
-   Full keyboard operation, including the navigation menu and FAQ accordions
-   Text and background colour combinations tested for contrast
-   Descriptive alt text on informative images, and empty alt on decorative ones
-   Form fields with real labels, not placeholder text standing in for labels
-   Text that reflows without horizontal scrolling down to a 320px viewport

## Known limitations

Embedded third-party content, including map embeds, is outside our direct control and may not meet the same standard. If a map is the barrier, call or text us and we will describe the location, commute, and surroundings directly.
